I am on the fence on this. I have pretty much all the American Girl outfits, but I sew doll clothing professionally so I like having the handmade outfits as well. Some of the American Girl offerings lately haven't been made as well as I had hoped they would be. I am very picky when it comes to sewing for dolls so maybe I expect too much. I have seen some doll seamstresses who use cheaper fabrics and their work just doesn't "wow" me. I can tell by a picture when something is quality work and when it isn't. Also, if it looks like something I can reproduce, which in most cases I can easily, I will pass. I have purchased from The Dollies Dressmaker and Carpatina before and loved the outfits, but since I can make the same thing myself, I would rather do that and have the satisfaction that I did it and when I give it to my children, it is something that will mean a lot to them because it came from mom.
